Move a Photo to Another Photo Using Photoshop Elements

Q: How do I move an object from one photo and transfer it to another photo?

A: The secret to moving photos between each other is the Layers Palette which Adobe now calls the Layers Panel. I often use the two terms interchangeably.

Open both photos in Elements so they are visible.

Go to the Layers Palette and click and drag the Background Layer over to the other photo until you see a border appear. That indicates you can release the mouse button and the photo will appear in the new photo as a new Layer.

If you only want to move part of a photo to a new photo, first make a selection of the part of the photo you want to move.

Click on the Move tool in the Toolbox to make it active. Hold the Alt (Mac:Option) key and click and drag the selection on top of the other photo and release the mouse. Now the selected area will be a new Layer in the second Photo.
