Keeping Skin Natural

by Carrie

Q: How do you add color, contrast, or any effect to a portrait without making their face and skin look over processed?

A: I think the easiest way to control the intensity of photo editing is to use Layers.

Either duplicate your Background Layer and apply the effects to the duplicate Layer or use Adjustment Layers.

The reason this makes it easy is because you can adjust the Opacity by using the slider at the top of the Layers palette.

If your results are too extreme just reduce the Opacity for that Layer. It's much faster than starting over again.
