Greeting Cards-My Own Artwork

by Heidi
(Sarasota, FL)

Q: I am drawing my own cartoons and figures for my greeting cards, if I upload them into elements 9, can I redesign them and cut them out and put them on different backgrounds and enhance color and size etc.

A: You can do some of that stuff if you treat each image as a whole unit. In other words you could use Free Transform to rotate and resize the image. If there is enough difference between your objects and the background you could fairly easily change backgrounds and change colors of objects.

But I'm guessing you want to do things like take the straight arm of one of your figures and make it bend.

Making changes like that are difficult in Elements and really depends on the detail, size and color of the object your trying to manipulate.

The reason it's hard is because Elements is a pixel-based program. You would be much better off doing those kinds of changes in a vector-based program like Adobe Illustrator.

Good luck,
Rick
