Change Object from Color to Black

by Jenny

Q: I watched your tutorial on how to change the man's shirt from green to the blue like the lady's shorts. I followed your instructions and was able to get the black I wanted. When I change the blend mode to 'color', it switches back to the original color I had. How to I get the new color (black) to stay and show the detail?

Thank you!

A: When you use the Color blend mode to change color like in the Change Color Tutorial it doesn't work very well for neutral colors like black and white.

Check out this video on Change from Color to Black for a quick and easy way to change a color to black.

One tip that's not in the video is that you can adjust the tint of the black by double-clicking on the Levels Adjustment Layer and moving the middle slider until you get the shade of black that you want.

Thanks for the question Jenny, I hope this helps.

Good Luck!
Rick
